How to: Know what types of Hair Dyes to use

Temporary Hair Dyes - Colour Hair Sprays
Temporary colour is made of dye molecules that adhere to the outer shaft of any hair type, but they do not penetrate the hair's surface. They can be washed out immediately after use. Temporary spray colour will even wash out of pre-lightened hair (unless there is significant damage to the hair shaft).
The colours are vibrant and are perfect for creating high/lowlights of any colour you choose.
Colour sprays include 17 shades and 3 glitter sprays.

Semi-permanent Hair Dyes
Semi-permanent dyes add colour without changing your natural shade dramatically. They deposit colour that clings to the hair's surface but don't permanently change your hair's colour. The outer layer of colour builds up to add shine, condition and colour in one step.
The molecules of colour are small enough to wash out (approximately 6-12 washes), fading with each shampoo so there is no regrowth and no retouching is necessary.
Semi-permanents cover up to 50% of grey hair and enhance natural colour. Semi-permanents should not be used on pre-lightened hair as results may become more permanent. To refresh the product, re-apply approximately every 4 weeks.

Demi-permanent hair Dyes
Demi-permanent colour is used in the same way as semi-permanent colour, but with longer-lasting results, adding condition, shine and body. Colour enhancement is subtle but notable, lasting up to 26 shampoos, with re-application every 4 to 6 weeks. There is no obvious regrowth because the colour fades gradually each time you wash. Although low levels of peroxide will lift colour to be a little brighter than the natural shade, demi-permanent dyes are gentle and will not reduce natural condition.
Use on pre-lightened or permed hair may result in more permanent colouring.

Permanent Hair Dyes
Permanent colour provides all-over, enduring colour with depth and intensity. The presence of ammonia enables hair to be lightened, and then peroxide allows colour pigments to penetrate the hair's structure, irreversibly altering the pigmentation. The final shade result is a combination of your natural shade and tone, together with the chemical development time. It covers grey entirely, lighten hair by a number of shades and create tonal changes. Regrowth is obvious, so re-application is necessary every 4 to 6 weeks. Permanent hair products will eventually fade, but only to a lighter version of the permanent shade – not back to your original colour.
